Fantaspoa 2017 has come to an end, with a total of 9,000 viewers in its screenings, workshops and parallel activities. This year the winner of the Silver Méliès was Fucking Bunnies (Finland, 2015) directed by Teemu Niukkanen. Two films were given special mentions, André Øvredal’s The Tunnel (Norway, 2016) and the animated film Dead Horses (Spain, 2016) by directors Marc Riba and Anna Solanas.   The jury consisted of Evan Katz (US), Nicola Piovesan (Italy) and Greta Varts (Estonia).

The Méliès d’argent  for the best European Fantastic Feature Film went to the compelling fantasy film Skins and the Méliès d’argent for best short film went to the original animation Neck and Neck.

Vanishing Waves won the 2013 Silver Crane for Best Actress (Jurga Jutaite), Best Director (Kristina Buozyte) Best Actor (Marius Jampolskis), Best Cinematography (Feliksas Abrukauskas) and to top it of winning Best Film!  Well deserved and we are super happy for Kristina, Jurga, Bruno Samper and everyone involved in making Vanishing Waves.

This year we will also host a small cocktail on May 18th to celebrate European and world genre films and  the launch of our new website.
