Méliès 2020 Candidate for Blood Window

Méliès International Festivals Federation awarded the best Latin American film in the Blood Window Screenings section.

Blood Window is a unique business platform for filmmakers specialized in Horror & Genre-films from Latin America. The event includes a showcase of films in post-production and in Market Premiere status, round tables and conferences. In addition, a selection of twenty projects in early financing, seeking for potential partners. Blood Window mission is “Connecting Latin American Film-Genre Industry with the world”, the same of Méliès Federation for the European fantastic film.

The main objective is to foster filmmakers from the region, exploring their potencial with the support of professionals specialized in horror and fantasy genre, promoting ibero-american talents in film festivals and markets.

This sector has grown every year in film markets all around the world, offering initiatives to forge strategic alliances at a regional level but also between Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Méliès International Festivals Federation – MIFF awarded the best Latin American film in the Blood Window Screenings section. The jury composed by representatives of SITGES, the Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, selected the film to participate in the Blood Window Showcase of the next edition of the Marché Du Film in Cannes 2021.

Tarumama synopsis:

Sara and Oscar, a young couple, find themselves at a critical moment in their relationship. However, on the recommendation of their therapist, they decide to take a family trip to a cabin in the woods, together with their two young children, Alicia (11) and Tomás (6), and thus try to solve their problems. Everything seems normal, until strange events begin to happen in the house: the family begins to witness the appearance of a woman who haunts the cabin. Sara feels a strange connection to her, which will cause Oscar and her to confront her past, revealing unresolved family problems, as paranormal events appear to destroy the family.
