European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation welcomes two new members

The European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) has the great pleasure of welcoming two festivals as new members. During the General Assembly in Sitges, the EFFFF unanimously decided to welcome the Maskoon Festival in Beirut, Lebanon as a supporting member and the Hard:Line festival in Regensburg, Germany as an adherent member.

About Maskoon

Now in its third year, Maskoon is the only genre festival in the Middle East. During its short life, the festival shows a wide range of genre films, with Q&A’s with their international guests and a strong side programme. Maskoon also plays a strong role in promoting fantastic film to local professionals, encouraging filmmakers from the region to work in the genre.  As a supporting festival, they screen a European selection as part of their festival. Its upcoming edition takes place from 31 October to 4 November, 2018.

About Hard:Line

The Hard:Line festival in Regensburg chooses quality over quantity, with a small selection of carefully selected films, all presented with the directors present. As well as an audience festival, Hard:Line is also relevant for the industry as nearly all of their films are picked up for distribution afterwards. With Hard:Line as its member, the EFFFF now has representation in Germany, one of the biggest markets for fantastic cinema in Europe. As an adherent member, they organise a competition for the Méliès d’argent for the best European short film. The upcoming edition takes place from 25 to 29 September, 2019.
