The winner was be chosen by a jury consisting of:
Lloyd Kaufman
An American actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and legend. In 1974, together with Michael Herz, he founded Troma, a now-iconic studio specializing in low-budget horror films. Kaufman’s most famous work is The Toxic Avenger, released in 1985, which embodies everything that defines Troma’s style: an absurd premise, dark humor, amateurish acting, and creative special effects. Guest of Splat!FilmFest in 2018.
Tomasz Kolankiewicz
A film scholar, film historian, and film curator. Since June 2024, he has been the director of the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute. A jury member of Polish and European film festivals. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the artistic director of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
Ewelina Leszczyńska
A film critic associated with the Filmweb.pl portal. Since childhood, she dreamed of being paid to watch movies, so she attended the Jagiellonian University, where she graduated in 2015 with a degree in film studies and new media. She watches everything, but the weirder, the better. She has as much love for the surreal escapades of David Lynch as she does for The Gore Gore Girls by Herschell Gordon Lewis, Troma’s The Toxic Avenger, and the Sharknado series by The Asylum.
Splat!FilmFest is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 31 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film at Ravenna Nightmare qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
