The winners of Ramaskrik 2026

ramaskrik 2026

Ramaskrik Film Festival’s Méliès d’argent European Short Film Competition once again brought together a diverse range of fantastic films from across Europe, offering the jury a compelling selection of stories, styles and perspectives.

After watching the competing films, the jury — Astrid Thorvaldsen, Knut Nærum and Jasper Sharp — praised the creativity and variety of this year’s selection. Their final decision recognised a film distinguished by its atmosphere, restrained visual approach and growing sense of unease.

The Méliès d’argent goes to Dammen, directed by French filmmaker Grégoire Graesslin. Congratulations to the director and the entire team! The film now advances to the final round of the Méliès d’or, the annual award celebrating European fantastic cinema, at the Sitges Film Festival in October 2027.

And the winner is…

The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at Ramaskrik is “Dammen” by Grégoire Graesslin (France, 2025).

Two young women are enjoying the wild surroundings of an isolated lake. It’s a sunny day.

Here is the jury’s statement:

“We have now watched all the short films and it’s been a frightful joy. We have enjoyed all the different stories, subjects, styles and themes from different parts of Europe. So we want to thank all the filmmakers for sharing their films with us.

The winner of this year’s Méliès d’argent is a film that brims with mystery and tension. The minimalism in style is impressive; through one camera angle the film captures a sunny day that turns eerie and enigmatic. The soundscape pulls us into the story and conveys the rising gravity of the situation. We are unanimous in our praise for this film. The winner is Dammen directed by Grégoire Graesslin.”

Ramaskrik is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 35 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
