The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at Grossmann is “Tenéis que verlo” by Nacho Solana (Spain, 2025)

Luis and Ana visit another couple who have just had a baby. What should be a quick visit to meet the newborn turns into a strange experience.

Jury: Julian Richards, Vasja Rovšnik, Ana Marija Grbić

The jury unanimously decided to award this year’s prize to You Must See It, screened in the Méliès d’ argent competition. Through its meticulous construction of a haunting atmosphere, the film exposes, ironizes, and satirizes the false ideals and expectations often associated with parenthood. Using a restrained and economical cinematic language, the director skillfully overcomes the limitations of a modest production, crafting an intimate and claustrophobic family drama. By leaving room for multiple interpretations in its final moments, the film continues to resonate beyond the screen and invites the audience into an active dialogue with its themes.

Grossmann is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 35 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
