The winners of Grimmfest 2026

grimmfest 2026

Ramaskrik Film Festival’s Méliès d’argent European Short Film Competition once again brought together a diverse range of fantastic films from across Europe, offering the jury a compelling selection of stories, styles and perspectives.

After watching the competing films, the jury — Astrid Thorvaldsen, Knut Nærum and Jasper Sharp — praised the creativity and variety of this year’s selection. Their final decision recognised a film distinguished by its atmosphere, restrained visual approach and growing sense of unease.

The Méliès d’argent goes to Dammen, directed by French filmmaker Grégoire Graesslin. Congratulations to the director and the entire team! The film now advances to the final round of the Méliès d’or, the annual award celebrating European fantastic cinema, at the Sitges Film Festival in October 2027.

And the winner is…

This year’s award goes to Qui Insieme, directed by Italian filmmaker Fabio Langella. Blending science fiction with a story of obsession and control, the film follows Roberta as she runs away from home to meet Giulio, who has built a machine capable of reaching her from another dimension. What begins as a romantic experiment soon reveals itself as an obsessive cycle of control, and Roberta must break free to save herself.

Congratulations to Fabio Langella and the entire team behind Qui Insieme on this recognition!

Grimmfest is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 35 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
