The winners of Fancine 2025

The 35th edition of Fancine took place from November 12 to 18, 2025, transforming Málaga into a hub for fantastic, horror, and science fiction cinema.
Founded in 1990 as a small film showcase by the University of Málaga, the event evolved over the years, becoming an international festival in 1997 and later adopting the name Fancine in 2008. It has grown into one of Spain’s leading festivals for fantastic and horror films, with increasing recognition across Europe.

Méliès d’argent Award Winner – Short Films @ TerrorMolins 2025

The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at Fancine 2025 is “Double or Nothing” by Tokay (Switzerland 2025, 10 minutes).
A statement about our wonderfully greedy world. Inspired by an anecdote from the booming Tokyo of the 80s, the film tells the glamorous story of the vicious property shark Akio Kashiwagi. His passion is illegal gambling in the underworld. An American is on his trail, but Akio’s greatest enemy is his own insatiable greed.
Fancine is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 33 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
