The 44th edition of the Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival concluded after a week of screenings, professional encounters, and parallel activities that reaffirmed its status as a key event for genre cinema. The closing session featured the short film Confession by Japanese director Mai Nakanishi and the feature film La Frecuencia Kirlian, presented by its director Cristian Ponce. During the ceremony, the festival also honoured filmmaker Paco Cabezas with the 2025 Honorary Award, recognising his career as director and screenwriter. The programme concluded with the traditional 12-hour horror marathon, marking the official close of TerrorMolins 2025.

Méliès d’argent Award Winner – Short Films @ TerrorMolins 2025

The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at TerrorMolins 2025 is “Judy1964”, directed by Marie-Hélène Van Thuyne (Marie-Hélène Van Thuyne (Belgium 2025, 5 minutes).

Set in 1960s suburbia, JUDY1964 is a one-shot stop motion short film that follows young Judy as she becomes captivated by a new toy gun commercial, but when she finds her parents’ real firearm, the line between fantasy and danger blurs.

TerrorMolins is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 33 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
