Ramaskrik Film Festival returns to Oppdal, Norway, from 14 to 18 October 2026, with another edition of its celebration of horror and fantastic cinema.

The festival has already revealed the first part of this year’s programme, promising spiders, vertigo, Norwegian cult films, anniversaries, Spanish horror and much more, with the programme continuing to grow through the summer as new films and guests are announced.

As part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, Ramaskrik also hosts the Méliès d’argent competition for Best European Short Film, bringing together 16 films from across Europe.

Ramaskrik Film Festival selection brings together ten fantastic short films from across Europe and beyond, representing a variety of approaches to contemporary genre cinema:

The Méliès d’argent jury consists of Astrid Thorvaldsen, Knut Nærum and Jasper Sharp, who will select the winner on Saturday, 17 October.

As part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, Ramaskrik Film Festival contributes to the promotion and circulation of European fantastic cinema through the Méliès d’argent competition. The winning film will qualify for the Méliès d’or, the annual award celebrating the best European fantastic feature and short films selected through the federation’s network.
