NIFFF Selections 2025

The Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF), the only Swiss festival dedicated exclusively to genre cinema, proudly unveils its official selections for the 2025 Méliès d’Argent competitions. As an Affiliated Member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), NIFFF plays a key role in promoting and celebrating European fantastic cinema.

Every year, the Méliès d’Argent awards recognize excellence in European genre filmmaking across two categories: short films and feature films. The winners at NIFFF will be automatically nominated for the prestigious Méliès d’Or, which crowns the best of European fantastic cinema.

NIFFF 2025 Announces Méliès d’Argent Short Film Competition Lineup

As the only Swiss festival dedicated exclusively to genre cinema, the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) once again hosts the Méliès d’Argent competition for Best European Fantastic Short Film — a celebration of imagination, innovation, and genre storytelling.

Presented in collaboration with the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), this competition highlights bold and visionary short films from across Europe.

Here is the official 2025 selection::

  • A Bear Remembers – Linden Feng, Hannah Palumbo – United Kingdom – 20’
  • Cherubs – Anna Pieri Zuercher, Pietro Zuercher – Switzerland – 13’
  • Stomach Bug – Matty Crawford – United Kingdom – 15’
  • The Eggregores’ Theory – Andrea Gatopoulos – Italy – 15’
  • TV oder Die Ruhestörung an der Waldbergstrasse – Frederic Siegel – Switzerland – 15’
  • Dammen – Grégoire Graesslin – France – 15’

The winner will move forward to compete for the Méliès d’Or, the highest award for European fantastic short films.

NIFFF’s short film selection once again affirms the festival’s role as a platform for daring stories, new visions, and genre-defying creativity.The winning short will qualify for the Méliès d’Or competition, which annually crowns the best European fantastic short film across the MIFF network.

The winner will be automatically nominated for the prestigious Méliès d’Or, the top prize for European fantastic feature films.
