NIFFF 2025 Announces Méliès d’Argent Winners

We’re excited to honour the recipient of the Méliès d’Argent for Best European Fantastic Short Film at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) — Switzerland’s only festival fully devoted to genre cinema.
The 24th edition of the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) wrapped up after 9 thrilling days of cinema, creativity, and encounters. With 127 works from 42 countries, the festival once again celebrated the boldest voices in fantastic storytelling.
And the Melies d’argent winner is…
Méliès d’Argent Award Winner – Feature Film @ NIFFF 2025

The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Feature Film at Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival is “The Ugly Stepsister” directed by Emilie Blichfeldt.
Follows Elvira as she battles against her gorgeous stepsister in a realm where beauty reigns supreme. She resorts to extreme measures to captivate the prince, amidst a ruthless competition for physical perfection.

The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival is “Stomach Bug” directed by Matty Crawford.
A father grapples with loneliness after his daughter moves out, descending into disturbing experiences in this gripping.

Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 33 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film at Grossmann qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
