Grossmann 2025 Announces Méliès d’Argent Short Film Competition Lineup
The 20th edition of the Grossmann Fantastic Film & Wine Festival, taking place from 2 to 6 July 2025 in Ljutomer and Ormož (Slovenia), will once again host the Méliès d’Argent competition for Best European Fantastic Short Film.
As an Affiliated Member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), Grossmann proudly joins 32 other genre festivals in promoting excellence in European fantastic cinema. The Méliès d’Argent celebrates short films that push creative boundaries, redefine genre storytelling, and reflect the diversity of the European imagination.
This year, eight short films from across the continent have been selected to compete.
The 2025 Méliès d’Argent competition lineup at GROSSMANN:
- Pearl Comb Directed by Ali Cook United Kingdom – 21 minutes
- Bubbleman Directed by Alban Gily & Thierry Bonneau France – 14 minutes
- Dagon Directed by Paolo Gaudio Italy – 6 minutes
- Bikemaniac Directed by Arturo Artal & Juan Carrascal Ynigo Spain – 19 minutes
- Free the Chicken Directed by Matúš Vizár Slovakia – 15 minutes
- Whisperer Directed by Pepo González & Juan Carlos Saloz Spain – 15 minutes
- Frequenzia Z Directed by Charli Sangar Spain – 14 minutes
- Rodent Directed by Joe Fereday United Kingdom – 8 minutes
The winning short will qualify for the Méliès d’Or competition, which annually crowns the best European fantastic short film across the MIFF network.
Set in the heart of Slovenia’s wine region, Grossmann Festival continues its unique blend of genre cinema and fine wine. With a focus on cult, horror, and extreme cinema, the festival remains a vital meeting point for bold filmmakers and fearless audiences.
