Fantaspoa Selections 2026

The 22nd edition of Fantaspoa – Porto Alegre International Fantastic Film Festival will take place from 8 to 26 April 2026, once again bringing fantastic cinema to screens across Porto Alegre. Over the years, Fantaspoa has established itself as the largest fantastic film festival in Latin America.
The festival has unveiled the official poster for Fantaspoa 2026, created by visual artist and festival art director Elizabeth Schuch. The design pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of Carrie (1976), directed by Brian De Palma.
Inspired by the film’s powerful imagery and emotional intensity, as well as by the engravings of Gustave Doré, which influenced Sissy Spacek’s interpretation of the character, Schuch developed an aesthetic concept that evokes the psychological horror and dramatic force that made Carrie a landmark of the genre.
Starting with this edition, Fantaspoa will also expand its role within the Méliès International Festivals Federation. For the first time, the festival will include the Méliès d’Argent Feature Film Competition alongside the Méliès d’Argent competition for Best European Fantastic Short Film.
With this addition, Fantaspoa will now host both competitions, further strengthening its role within the MIFF network and contributing to the promotion of European fantastic cinema on the international stage.
