On the closing day of a powerful 2025 edition, the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) has officially announced the winner of the Méliès d’Argent for Best European Fantastic Short Film

Méliès d’argent Award Winner @ BIFFF 2025
The winner of the Méliès d’Argent Award for Best European Fantastic Genre Short Film at BIFFF Film Festival, is “The Musical Spider” directed by Henry Moore Selder.
Based on a comic by Philippe Foerster. The phone rings in the office of private detective Bellytail. As the caller, Plattenberg, tells the PI his story, the images unfold. plattenberg lives with his wife and their deformed kid, Runt, who is only a living head. Mrs Plattenberg is driving him crazy with playing piano to a dancing spider. Drunk one night, Plattenberg kills the spider, sending his wife into a catatonic state. But secretly, Runt is plotting his revenge.
BIFFF Film Festival is part of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an association currently consisting of 33 film festivals, whose mission it is to promote European fantastic cinema around the globe. The Méliès d’argent is awarded to short films for cinematic quality and creativity. The winning short film at BIFFF qualifies for the competition for the Méliès d’or.
