MOTELX - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival promotes the best of horror from around the globe and encourages the production of Portuguese horror films. One of the cultural highlights of the year in Lisbon, the festival has also carved out a prominent position in the international circuit of genre film festivals since its inception in 2007.

In 2016, MOTELX reached an audience of about 20.000 people across the 6 days of the festival and the 2 Warm-Up days that kick off every edition with open air screenings, concerts and parties.

Past guests include names such as George A. Romero, Stuart Gordon, John Landis, Coffin Joe, Eli Roth, Brian Yuzna, Dario Argento, Hideo Nakata and Tobe Hooper, among others. In 2017 the guests of honour are Roger Corman and Alejandro Jodorowsky.

MOTELX is the only Portuguese festival to have received an accreditation by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), and is also a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) and Europe For Festivals, Festivals For Europe (EFFE).
