Molins de Rei Horror Film Festival is one of the oldest Festivals in Europe and is probably the oldest that is solely dedicated to horror movies. With a solid experience Molins de Rei Festival is not only a meeting point where spectators hungry of horror movies gather but the place where the young talents -mostly locals- present their short films to its official competition. The Festival is also well known for its live theatrical shows. Exhibitions, workshops, a networking, special short films screenings for high schools amongst other events are also part of our program. Last but not least, the 12 hours horror movies marathon is still the cornerstone of the Festival.

Born in 1973 as a 16 hours horror movies marathon, it is still a cozy handmade Festival where the relationship with the audience and the guests is very tangible. The Festival is governed by a non-profit association, made up of amateur but enthusiastic members. Molins de Rei Town Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalonia’s autonomous government) support us with public funding which in combination with the revenue we generate enables a healthy organic growth thought the years.
