Vilagarcía de Arousa

Founded in 1973 in Vilagarcía de Arousa, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario is the oldest film festival in Galicia and the premier event for Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction in the northwest of Spain. With over 50 years of history, it has become a cult meeting point for genre lovers, renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and dedicated audience.
Curtas distinguishes itself within the circuit through a unique transmedia approach. The festival seamlessly blends the screening of international feature and short films with a strong focus on illustration, comic books, and fantastic literature. Its program annually features world-class exhibitions and masterclasses, fostering a direct dialogue between the public and legendary creators—from filmmakers like Joe Dante, Mick Garris, Neil Marshall or Lamberto Bava to iconic artists such as Dave McKean, John Howe, David Lloyd or Luis Royo.
Set in the mist-shrouded landscape of Galicia, a land steeped in Celtic mythology and Atlantic folklore, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario offers an immersive cultural experience where reality fades into legend.
