Fanomenon – Leeds International Film Festival

Established in 1999, Fanomenon is the UK’s greatest genre film event offering a unique combination of amazing fantasy cinema experiences, both light and dark, that cannot be found together anywhere else. Fanomenon showcases a wide range of horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action movies from around the world to a new and growing audience in the city of Leeds and the UK and is also a platform for discussion and the development of genre filmmaking in the country.

Previous highlights include premieres of films such as Steamboy, Ghost In The Shell II: Innocence, Ju-on: The Grudge 1 & 2, Versus, A Horrible Way to Die, Secuestrados and Juan of the Dead. Past guests have included Stuart Gordon, Chris Smith, JT Petty, Terry Gilliam, Simon Rumley and Cory McAbee of The American Astronaut fame. It also plays host to the renowned Night and Day of the Dead events, showcasing some of the best new horror films from around the world in 12-hour long marathons, accompanied by short films, competitions, guests and more.

As with all the sections within the festival programme, Fanomenon strives to showcase new filmmaking talent in the UK and from around the world to an ever growing and enthusiastic audience.
